Union Says GM Is Not Able to Restructure Opel

Dow Jones

FRANKFURT -(Dow Jones)- German labor union IG Metall Wednesday said General Motors Co. isn't in a position to restructure its German Adam Opel GmbH unit and fears the unit might become insolvent.

Following months of negotiations, U.S. carmaker GM reneged on a tentative plan to sell a stake in Opel to a consortium led by Austrian-Canadian auto parts maker Magna International Inc. (MGA).
