20,000 miles for a free ticket at 1$ per mile.
Pay a 2.49% 'convenience fee' and you are paying $498.00 for the award ticket.
Where do you fly? Is that a savings over paying cash? Are you willing to put up with award travel restrictions to have the illusion that it is a free ticket?
The point of the article is that you pay the 2.49% even if you pay your whole balance every month.

I pay my AAdvantage card's balance every month. I earn miles. Thus, it seems to me a win-win situation,
Am I wrong?
