I agree with Mr. Stewart, but I try to stay invested in the sector with stocks like Walgreen

As a physician, I resent the drug companies approach to courting physicians; almost harassment during working hours. A sandwitch and a drug advertisment pen is not lavish. I resent the drug company commercials. Yes, drug companies must pay bills too. Investers must get their rewards. More R&D is needed. Good drugs make their own rewards. Legislation and regulations help curb bad habits.

While the gist of your article is extremely important,
I really have to question your expertise when you recommend PHLAX
Not only is it CLOSED to new investors, but it is a FRONT-LOADED fund (5.5%)!
If you invested 10,000 in it last year, you paid a whopping 34.86% ($784.00)
(according to Smartmoney expense calculator)

Is lowing the risk of heart disease, the number one killer of americans, not a 'critical' area? Yes, it's too bad pharma companies don't spend billions to develop cures for diseases affecting only a few thousand people, but hey, they gotta pay their bills somehow.

Price negotiation is not price-gouging, unless you're an industry lobbyist. Only big payoff drugs get developed. leaving critical areas 'orphaned.' Drug companies court doctors lavishly, often hiding egregious conflicts of interest. TV spots for prescrIption-only drugs distort the doctor-patient relationship. Ask your doctor.
Mr. Stewart knows all this - he has chosen to ignore it in a notably unconvincing turn as Pollyanna.
