Video conferencing has also come a long way and is quite affordable. If you are looking for a travel alternative, get a demo of an HD video conferencing system -- it will really make you think twice about traveling. The experience is very good and HD systems start at $10K. Polycom, which is mentioned in the story for telepresence, also offers very cost effective HD video conferencing solutions. Amen! from another self grounded business traveler. Home is a nice place to work from, if at all possible. The air travel system today is unbearable.
