If your income is near the cut-off for Roth, be careful about making your 2008 contribution during 2008. If you are wrong and your income is a bit too high by year end, you might have to recharacterize the IRA. Trust me, that is a pain in the neck! Stung once, I never make the IRA contribution in the same year anymore, I will wait until 2009 to make 2008 contribution.
