Debt settlement is a scam, I worked for a major company in Dallas TX for a short time and watched them screw over the majority of their 'clients'. I would mention the name here, but they have already proven themselves to be sue-happy with other companies and people, so I will just say this, stay way from debt settlement companies! This truly is something you can do for yourself and is better done that way anyway… there are so many aspect of this that should be learned about. I am an avid do-it-yourself-er and honestly believe that (after having done it myself) with a little education and desire to get out of the rat race (credit industry) it is really quite simple. There are just a few pitfalls to be wary of. I found a site that not only is educational, but HONEST… they follow guidelines set up by the FTC, not some 'organization' that claims to be a watchdog for these companies when in actuality it was created by them. Check it out and see for yourself. www.weatheringdebt.com
