Who did the research on this story? Did you just take the first four search results in Google for coupons? Of the four sites you listed one has a lot of out-of-date codes (retailmenot), one requires that you register to access their coupons (upromise) and one requires that you buy their book (Entertainment Guide) to get the coupons. CouponMom has some good printable coupons, but has very few online coupon codes. If you're looking for online coupon codes try these sites which are all free and don't require registration:

Alex's Coupons (http://www.alexscoupons.com)
FlamingoWorld (http://www.flamingoworld.com)
ShoppingBargains (http://www.shopping-bargains.com)

You can also search for coupons via Google by entering a query of "storename coupons".

I review many of these programs on my website, CompareRewards.com.

Every year I do an in-depth analysis of online shopping sites and my last study found that a program called Extrabux actually pays the highest cashback rates overall, and like most legitimate online shopping programs, it's totally free to join. Other high performers included MrRebates and Mic...(Read more of this comment)
