The comptroller of the currency has a plan to raise the monthly minimum payment on existing credit card debtors who can't afford the payments they now are making!
It is fine to raise the monthly minimum payment requirements on FIRST TIME credit card users who have not accrued any debt yet, but to inflict this "monthly minimum increase plan" on those already in debt is cruel and inhuman punishment for those who will lose their homes as a result.
Consumers should have the right to OPT OUT of any change in terms on an existing credit card agreement.
I would be happy to design incentive based credit card debt paydown programs to help reduce the nearly one trillion dollars in consumer credit card debt. Any bank with credit card accounts that wants a new, fresh thinker to help you help others can contact me at http://www.daily-protest.com
My biggest concern is the Comptroller of the Currency. They seem to support whatever the banks want and then come up with some poorly thought out new ideas such as raising the monthly minimum payment on existing debtors who can't afford the payments they now are making!

People can fall into credit card traps in the following ways,
Loss of job, medical emergency, college education, small business unexpected expenses, one late payment.
In many instances it is the unethical acts of BIG BUSINESS that hurt small business, such as refusing to repair equipment that the big business makes simply because they want to sell something new.
Basic credit card strategy is to pay the balance immediately ... do not even try to second guess the payment window, do not play games with the interest rate changes, etc.. To avoid the "inactive" cancellation routine, use your credit cards to pay off (online, if possible, to save yourself a stamp) the monthly utilities, rotating the utility payments between the credit cards.
And, of course, limit the number of credit cards in your possession. One Visa card, one MasterCard, and one American Express card along with one or two bank cards should be more than adequate for most purposes ... in particular travel....
