How to use this applet: We've started you out with a portfolio consisting entirely of general equity funds. Dial in an allocation using the "portfolio graphic equalizer" at the bottom of the page and we'll show you its performance and volatility over the past five years. When you use the sliders to add other fund types, the program will adjust automatically so that your overall allocation never exceeds 100%. If your total is less than 100%, we assume the remainder of your money is out of the market and not earning a significant return.
