ETFs Start 2Q On Upbeat Note

Stocks climbed again Wednesday as world leaders convened in London to address global economic woes. As G-20 heads of state braved protesters, investors pushed up U.S. financial and tech stocks for the fourth positive day in six trading sessions. Winners

Emerging markets funds got a boost Wednesday as hopes the economic summit would offer some stability to volatile developing markets. The WisdomTree Emerging Markets SmallCap Dividend fund (DGS) climbed 5.5%, and the SPDR S&P Emerging Europe fund (GUR) rose 5.3%.

Losers

Natural gas prices dipped Wednesday, putting the United States Natural Gas fund (UNG) among the few unleveraged funds in the red column. Shares declined 2.4%. A profit warning from Celgene (CELG) pulled down shares of the iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology Index fund (IBB) 2.1%

Wednesday s Industry Headlines

The Swedish Export Credit Corporation, will restate its earnings going back to 2006. A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission said the firm, which underwrites exchange-traded notes linked to commodity indexes, has halted sales of new shares in the United States. The notes, marketed under the Elements brand name, include the Rogers International Commodity Agriculture ETN (RJA), the Rogers International Commodity ETN (RJI), Rogers International Commodity Energy ETN (RJN), Rogers International Commodity Metal ETN (RJZ), MLCX Grains Index ETN (GRU), MLCX Biofuels Index ETN (FUE) and the Spectrum Large Cap Sector ETN (EEH).
