On launching MapStation (off the Start button), you may see some
popup windows that indicate MapStation is having trouble starting
up normally.
If you get the popup window that says "The connection was refused
by the server", this means that you are not recognized as a valid
MapStation subscriber. This can have 2 causes:
-
Your license key is not exactly right. This is usually a problem
for first time users. Please check your license key. You can edit
your license key by clicking on the "License Key" button on the
popup window. Common errors include substituting a '-' (dash),
for the '~' (tilda, usually the shift character on the left of the
'1' on your keyboard), or mixing '0's (zeros) with 'O' (upper-case
'o's).
-
Your subscription to MapStation may have been automatically deactivated
due to a billing problem, eg. your credit card may have expired.
Please check your subscription status on your
account page
If you get the popup window that says "Connection appears to be down",
this means that MapStation on your computer cannot connect to our
servers on the internet. This can have 2 causes:
-
You are not connected to the internet. You must be already connected to
the internet when you start MapStation. MapStation cannot connect for you.
-
Something is blocking MapStation from connecting to our servers, usually
a firewall, either a personal one on your computer, or a network firewall.
You will need to adjust the firewall settings yourself, or ask a network
administrator to setup special permissions.
MapStation requires access to port 1825 for the following hosts:

quotereal.smartmoney.com
and access to port 80 on:
Reception is on port 1023 or higher and must also be granted access, although
