Obama has $350 billion in the TARP that is already appoved by congress. His stimulus proposal should be dropped, due to the amount($880 billion+), pork, waste and political paybacks. Use the normal appropriation process and see if the spending can be justified. A $2 Trillion+ deficit in the first year is not a good start. Borrow then SPEND, Spend and spend is a poor plan.
Haste makes waste. Remember we do not have a accounting for the first $350 Billion.
The first stimulus package did not work.
Don't throw good money after bad.

Kodydogg - I see you are unable to provide us with the proof (website link or newspaper article) where it says Obama is going to spend 600M to 'sell the idea of universal health care, when Americans have known for years that some form of universal health care is coming.

Kodydogg - I am glad we agree the health care system in the USA needs reform.
The topic was how do you feel Obama is doing on the economy and I say give him some time and he may even surprise you.

Kodydogg - you must think the constitution of the United States has tenet of marxism, because it is full of verbiage regarding "equality."
You must be frequenting PRIVATE hospitals and clinics. Go into any PUBLIC hospital emergency room and you will find a sign detailing how they CANNOT refuse urgent care to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay. IF you had read the rest of my comment you'd see that I believe that we desperately need to reform our healthcare system. We need to provide a greater standard of care to ALL citizens. I just don't beleive a federally run program can achieve that.
The fact is that as long as there is an upper class that is willing to pay more for a service (think top shelf health plans or private hospitals) there will always be an entrepreneur who will make that service available. Those who can't afford it will not be able to avail themselves of it. The only way to have a homogenized level of care for everyone is to force a one level system on everyone, reducing the standard of care for those who could afford better. Why do you think that so many Canadians have diagnostic tests and ...(Read more of this comment)surgeries done in the states?
The alternative to make the big gov't plan work is to have those that can most afford the luxury pay for those who cannot. Much like the "tax cuts" proposed by the Obama Administration, this is simply income redistribution. This redistribution of wealth in the pursuit of "equality" is a basic tenet of marxism.(Show less of this comment)

What? I know for a fact many hospitals, specialists and other health care providers certainly DO restrict needed tests and procedures, urgent care and especially preventive healthcare to people without insurance. They even restrict preventive healthcare to people with insurance but that don't have enough coverage. What do you think, they take IOU's? No pay = no service. Do you really believe people receive 'equal' 'quality' health care, regardless of whether they have insurance or not? If you do you are sadly mistaken.

Kodydogg - I know you are pretty slick to change the subject from the economy to health care, but please provide with the proof (website link or newspaper article) where it says Obama is going to spend 600M to 'sell the idea.' Why the need to 'advertise it?' Americans have known for years that some form of universal health care is coming.
Er, this isn't money spent for healthcare, but $600M for ADVERTISING and other efforts to convince the public that the federal government has the ability to run a national healthcare system. Do not try to paint me with the "Conservatives don't care about anyone other than themselves" brush you are so fond of wielding. You couldn't be farther from the truth about me. There is no empirical evidence that any government can effectively run a healthcare program. I am all for everyone getting needed care (just as they can now, no public hospital can turn away someone in need of care even if they have no ability to pay) and I do believe reform is desperately needed, but the government lacks the skill and intelligence to get it done and spending $600M to convince the public otherwise is OUR money being thrown away on propaganda.

Kodydogg - I knew it would not take long for us to disagree. When the government allocates money to help millions of uninsured Americans get the adequate health care coverage they need, of course your inconsideration for your fellow man, women and children then you say it is 'money that is thrown away." By the way, most of the money you are referring is for uninsured children living in America in poverty. Show just a little care and concern for children please. Many Children are born into poverty not by their choice and we as Americans should make sure there is adequate health care coverage for every child.
Certainly way too soon for a postmortem but I had to say "poor" based on some of the crap that is in his stimulus plan proposal. $600M to "prepare the public for universal healthcare"?!? Money to expand states' contraceptive programs?!? Way too much money being thrown away.

Of course, only time will tell. Give the man a little more time, perhaps 100 days to start judging his performance. I do like that he is implementing safeguards to crack down on lobbyist influence over the program, including restricting contacts with lobbyists in connection with applications for, or disbursements of federal funds designed to shore up the financial system. Obama is adopting policies that established and well-capitalized banks to be part of the solution to our economic troubles. There seems to be confusion out there about banks that have accepted TARP funds, so here is an excerpt of the recent testimony of the CEO of the American Bankers Association
The CEO of the American Bankers Association (ABA) testified before the U.S. House of Representatives on Jan. 13 about widespread public confusion over the U.S. Treasury's Capital Purchase Program (CPP). The CPP is part of the Treasury's Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), which was created with the passing of the E...(Read more of this comment)mergency Economic Stabilization Act last fall. The CPP is a voluntary program designed to provide capital to healthy banks to loosen up credit and stimulate new lending. This distinguishes the CPP markedly from the use of non-CPP TARP funds to support troubled institutions like AIG, General Motors and Chrysler, and from the capital injection programs for weak banks in Europe and elsewhere. 'There are real differences between the CPP — a voluntary program for healthy banks — and the various injections of TARP money into troubled institutions; and yet the media, in particular, often lumps them together,' said Edward L. Yingling, President and CEO of the ABA. 'The bottom line is that the traditional banks that have been making loans in communities for decades should not be lumped together with other institutions that are in need of financial support,' Yingling said. 'Traditional banks and bankers are a major part of the solution to our economic difficulties, and policies should be designed to support their efforts.' (Show less of this comment)

Well if you want to look at the indexes since he got in office, then horrible haha.
Just for fun, liberals should also note the part about the Creator.
