No hybrids are 'worth it' if you compare the same car and take in the higher cost for the hybrid, it would take you a very long time to break even.

for example for the 2009 escape hybrid vs 2009 escape you pay about 9,000 dollars more for the hybrid. assuming you drive 15k miles a year. and gas costing 8 dollars it would still take 5 years to break even!
